I close my eyes and see us in our youthful bliss between the tempest of our teens and our children’s first breath.
Friday dinners at our little kitchen table above the bridal store in city’s center
yet home was anywhere I could gaze into your eyes and watch your lips form one of their thousand shapes.
They spoke a language of their own. My heartstrings pulled with every upturn or fall.
From this distance, both in time and in space, I believe we were so grateful for each other’s love because, deep down, we didn’t believe we were worthy.
