World Wide Strategy Meetup
Last night, I attended https://seths.blog/the-worldwide-strategy-meetup/, a meet-up at https://hudco.co/, a co-working space in Dobbs Ferry. Although this was Seth Godin's event, I was surprised to see the author and marketing guru walk in with a dog on a leash.
The building is industrial and perched on a cliff overlooking the Hudson. The space inside is upscale. An independent bookstore: https://www.picturebookny.com/ occupies the lobby.
Although I had purchased the Kindle version of https://www.amazon.com/This-Strategy-Make-Better-Plans/dp/B0D47T8S7N, I bought a copy from Sara, the bookstore's owner. The room began filling up with people who had subscribed to Seth's blog and had been drawn to this event. It was a book launch for #thisisstrategy that promised to lift the veil on moving your passion from concept to reality. Seth gave a short introduction but didn't stay for the workshop. He and his puppy left, and our host, Carolyn, had us watch Seth's video in modules. Each module then led to participants sharing their thoughts about the theme that had been covered.
As the night progressed, we learned a little about the people in the room. There were independent filmmakers, life coaches focused on different areas, lawyers, social justice advocates, Podcast hosts and, medical practitioners. Each is facing an inflection in their career and desires to learn from Seth's new book how to move their project forward. I was there to explore how to move the book I have been working on this past year about grief out of my head and into the hands of those who are experiencing the loss of a spouse.
It was an inspiring group of people. The exercises we went through were helpful, and there was consensus that we should meet as a group and go through the book. My desire to build and join communities is gaining momentum. To be continued...
