Grateful

Grateful
circle

In the fog of my pain and confusion I have thrashed about

Seeking salve for my wounds

And remedies for my fractured “Humpty Dumpty” of a heart

I wore my love for her on my sleave

I weave the words of my grief into the lyrics of the minstrels song

In the pain of our own shattered dreams

In the struggle to find our way out of the labyrinth and into the light

We all sought comfort in the company of strangers

And although the loss of the center of our being persists

I am so grateful for the love our souls have found to share

Although we have lost our person, we are finding our people

And are fitting the pieces of our puzzle into new patterns

And soon like the phoenix from its ashes

The map of our journeys will unveil, our newfound purposes will arise.

And we will build upon the magic of the life we once lived.

But gratitude should not go unspoken

Your love and tenderness have helped me find my footing

Your reflection on my thoughts given me comfort

Without your empathy my howls at the moon would just be met with echoes.

So although our meetings are now over the love and sacred healing we have shared

Like the light of distant star will shine well beyond its lifetime.

And to the members of a group that no one would have chosen to join

And to its convener I offer a tearful goodbye and my humble and heartfelt gratitude.
